Expo 2015 milano unique opportunity to re-launch the european economy on the background of a current theme Article by Karolina Simerkova

Everyday it is getting closer to the opening date of the next Universal Exposition Expo 2015 in Milan. From May 1st to October 31st Italy will host this global event around the theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, with more than 140 countries participating from all around the world. It is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors who will have the possibility to take a trip around the world, sampling the food and traditions of people from all over the globe. Expo 2015 Milano will be the first Exposition in history to be remembered not only for its products but also for its contribution towards education on food and the planet’s precious resources.

THEME: 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'

Expo 2015 Milano is going to be a multi-coloured mosaic of countries that are called upon to interpret the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" and all its various components. Each participating country, starting from its own culture and traditions, will bring to Milan its views and prospects on the future and its solutions to the challenges we face in ensuring our food prospects.
This theme will deal with the wide range of issues associated with human nutrition, both in terms of the quality of food we consume and the supply of food for everyone. This all through presented technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet. The goal of the Exposition will be to promote best practices relevant to the theme and to spur an international consensus in the face of one of the most pressing issues of our time.

PARTICIPANTS: The role and the opportunities for the companies
Expo 2015 Milano brings with it countries from all over the world, at this moment there are registered 147 official participants from 144 countries which represents 94% of the overall population. Other official participants invited to the event are international organizations – European Union, United Nations and CERN, whose mission is coherent with the theme of this important event. For the first time of the history of EXPO is expected also the participation of 11 non-government organizations, as non-official participants, which are finally called to contribute to this important topic.
Naturally the main role will be played by the companies. As a special setting there will be 3 Corporate pavilions dedicated right to the companies, which with their own pavilion will have a great opportunity to present innovative solutions connected to the theme (as non-official participants). The involvement of the companies within Expo 2015 Milano is of extraordinary importance for the success of the event. A Universal Exposition looking towards the future and towards technological innovation would not be effective without the active involvement of businesses, the driving force behind research and progress.

Expo 2015 Milano is a strategic business occasion for companies in a broad range of sectors, from the creation of the exposition site and services to the development of the theme and content. It offers a great communication and promotion window for primary producing communities, farmers, food firms, the logistics and distribution chain, the restaurant and catering industry, research centres, and any company intenting to invest in innovation and production technologies that generate a healthy food product.
The Universal Exposition will be an opportunity for businesses to illustrate and promote their best practices and all activities undertaken to support the subthemes of Expo 2015 Milano. Companies may also take part by building, furnishing and managing exhibition pavilions, obtaining enhanced visibility for their brands in an entirely dedicated and customized space. Through direct engagement with the event, companies have a unique opportunity to develop and showcase products and services, to build strategic relationships and alliances with institutions, policymakers, influencers and key industry players and to roll out innovation and new technologies onto the world stage.

Finally, advantage of the satellite activities connected to the Expo 2015 Milano can be taken by all those companies which can develop and offer services and products to the millions of expected visitors, since it is estimated that aturnout of around 20 million visitors from all over the world. These companies could develop projects concerning visitors’ hospitality and accommodation, or invest in retail operations in a city capital of one of the richest regions of Europe creating activities.

LOCATION: Milan as a starting point for the renaissance of Europe
A century after the first opportunity as the hosting city of the International Exposition, Milan has been chosen again for the Expo 2015, an event that will for some months turn the world’s attention to Italy, a nation that has resources and potential that – also thanks to the path of institutional and financial reforms faced by the government in last months -  are bringing the country out of the financial crisis that since 2008 has plagued all the western economies. Italy is one of the six, a founding member of the European Union and a member of the G7. It is one of the world's major industrial powers and the second country in manufacturing within Europe.
Located in the heart of Lombardy - one of the most populated and developed regions of Europe – Milan has always been the locomotive of the Italian economy. The city was the industrial capital in the sixties, and nowadays it is the economical and financial capital, seat of the market and of the national banks.

Strategically positioned and a popular tourist attraction, a perfect starting point for visiting historic cities, lakes’ region, mountains and seaside; world capital of fashion and design worlds; cultural centre of primary importance thanks to institutions such as La Scala Theatre, the Piccolo Theatre,  the Brera Pinacoteca, the Duomo Cathedral and the Sforzesco Castle;  capital of soccer, with two teams - AC Milan and Inter Milan - which have supporters throughout the world and that won together the largest number of Champion’s league trophies for a city: these are only some of reasons that makes Milan the ideal platform for the re-launch of Europe and a very big opportunity for investment.
